Pandaripuram - Sri Pandarinathar Temple

General Information of Pandaripuram

1. This sthalam is also called as “Pandarpur”.

2. Since, the Perumal stood in a place called “Pandari” this sthalam is so called as “Pandaripuram”.

3. 2 Kms away from Pandaripuram there is a place named “Gopalpur”, where a Vishnu Paadham (divine feet) of Sri Vishnu is found.

4. Laddu is given as the main prasadham in this sthalam.

5. The speciality of this sthalam is the position in which the perumal is found. His hands are placed in his hip and the expression of this posture explains that he is enjoying the Bhajans of his devotees.

6. There is another great specialty in this sthalam and it is the way we worship the Perumal. They adapt as process called “Padha Sparisa Seva” and it is that we can place our fore head touching the divine feet of the Perumal in Garbagriham (Moolavar Sannadhi). And, it is considered as a special one if we do it on Wednesdays.

The Perumal of this sthalam is Sri Pandurangan. He is also called with the names ‘Sri Vittobha’ and ‘Pandarinathan’. He is found to be giving his seva in Nindra thirukkolam facing his thirumugham towards east direction.

The Perumal gives his seva in such away that he keeps his two hands in his hip and found to enjoy the Bhajans of Bhagavathas.

The Thaayar of this temple is Rukmanibhai Thaayar.

Sri Sudharsana Homam

Sri Sudharsana Homam is considered to one among the greatest and sacred homams. This homam is done not only for a particular person’s favor but also done for the peaceful life of this entire world against the evil. This homam is done towards Sri Chakkarathalwar, who is said to be the Hamsam of Sriman Narayanan.

Chakkarathalwar is found in the hands of Sri Vishnu, the protecting god. He helps his bhaktas who are in great danger. Chakkarathalwar is found along with him thereby waiting to help Sriman Narayanan. So, Chakkarathalwar is said to be the “Saving God” for every bhaktas. The best example for why he is said to be the saving god is the help offered to Gajendran, the elephant.

Gajendran used to offer Lotus flower to Sriman Narayanan daily from a small pond nearby. One day when it was about to pluck the flower, a crocodile caught the leg of the elephant. Gajendran seeked the help of Sriman Narayanan. It is the duty of the great god to help his bhaktas irrespective of the caste, religion, thing etc. At once, he came along with Sudharsana Alwar on top of Garudan. Sriman Narayanan provoked the Chakkaram on the crocodile, killed it and thereby rescued the elephant. This action clearly explains the greatness of Chakkarathalwar and how helpful he is towards his bhaktas.

So, Sudharsana Alwar is considered to be chief amongst the Panja Aayudham of Sriman Narayanan. It is also said that if we go daily to the Sannadhi of Chakkarathalwar, we will be freed from our sins and can attain a great level in our lives. So, by doing Sri Sudharsana homam, we can reach a great level in our life and will be against the evil thoughts and people.

This great “Maha Sudharsana Homam” should be done with a clear and clean mind. Our thoughts and actions should be clean. By doing this great homam in our house (or) in office, evil things, our sorrows, are destroyed and are blessed with Victory, upliftment of life etc. So, perform this great Maha Sudharsana Homam and attain a great level in your life.
